At JF&CS’s Career Development Center, our job is helping people find meaningful employment. Our staff has been vigilant in their efforts to better serve the growing number of clients turning to us for help.
Even in this difficult climate, where we are seeing 20% more clients at the same time our resources have shrunk due to cuts in government funding, we have an overall placement rate of 71% with a 22.6 week average time to help clients land a new job (as compared to the national average of 40.3 weeks).
We continue to build new partnerships with local employers, we’ve added more workshops and we’ve used our expertise to develop innovative programs that allow us to serve a greater number of job seekers.
Our weekly jobs email blast provides timely information on active job openings. Job fairs and networking events provide opportunities for job seekers to meet with regional employers for networking and placement purposes. Our next job networking opportunity is a “social mixer” with regional employers on October 18th from 5:00 – 7:30pm at the Allegheny Harvard Yale Princeton Club downtown. 30 employers will be there to mingle with CDC clients and other pre-qualified guests. Our newest initiative makes it easy for job seekers to update or augment their current skills and knowledge for increased competitive advantage. We’ve partnered with Ed2Go (the largest national online learning center) to offer dozens of self-paced tutorials and instructor-led courses through the new CDC Online Learning Center.
