As you might imagine, caseworkers with our Family Hope Connection find tremendous fulfillment when waiting children they’ve been preparing at last finalize their adoptions with a forever family. Both for these new families and our staff, there was much joy and celebration at Allegheny County Family Court last month during the annual National Adoption Day ceremony.
Read more about the work we do and two of our young clients, sisters who finalized their adoptions, in this Pittsburgh Post-Gazette story. Congratulations to the Gorecks and all the families that officially grew a little larger on this special day.
JF&CS’s Family Hope Connection (FHC) is a licensed adoption and foster care agency dedicated to placing children in permanent and loving homes. In addition to working with children in need of permanency services, we help birth parents, families considering adoption and families who have adopted and need ongoing support.
One of the many programs offered is Mom’s Coffee Club, a support group for moms who have adopted internationally. Meeting monthly over coffee and tea, Mom’s Coffee Club is a place to share common experiences and exchange suggestions. Bari Benjamin, a licensed clinical social worker at JF&CS’s Squirrel Hill Psychological Services and herself a mom who adopted internationally, facilitates the group.
Mom’s Coffee Club meets the last Friday of each month from 9:30-11:00am at the JF&CS offices in Squirrel Hill (5743 Bartlett Street). Registration is required; click here to register online. To learn more about the group, contact Bari Benjamin at 412.521.3800 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We know that adoption is a life-changing experience for all those involved, and our experienced staff can provide the compassionate support and expert guidance needed.
